at ts, we are always looking for the next unique place to introduce you to. we are excited to introduce our readers to one of our new favorite blogs/sources, mood of living. a norwegian friend of ours has penned a fine piece about a hidden hotel and natural oasis, the juvet hotel.

Mood-of-living-JUVET-HOTEL_07

“nestled in a valley close to norway’s most stunning fjord “geiranger”, you can find juvet, norway’s first landscape hotel featuring unique architectural design. in a local farmyard, this west coast treasure has seven detached guest rooms that at first appear shy as the minimalistic chalets stand in harmony with the nordic trees. yet, the panoramic signature windows of the rooms invite the massive mountains, fresh waterfalls, and distinct characteristics of the seasons into your indoor environment.

experience the finest of luxury and natural simplicity as the beauty of the surrounding nature awakens your senses. while the fresh air renews your lungs, indulge in local foods served in the rustic barn and pamper yourself in the spa. through outdoor activities offered by the heart-warming owners, enjoy the outstanding views painted by nature while skiing, rafting, hiking and more. the rivers that weave through the mountains of norway provide some of the purest water in the world. locals say that taking a dip in the cold mountain river is good for your heart, and simply brushing your teeth in it’s waters will boost your wellness and give you a sensation out of the ordinary. juvet’s magnificence continuously shines throughout the year, but for you summer travelers, remember to venture to the neighbor’s strawberry fields–they are the best in the world!”- charlotte søia rustand

if it is going to snow, then go

we are sitting here at the ts headquarters in nyc thinking about the kind of winter we have already been greeted with this year; snow and below freezing temperatures. but there is not much beauty to it unless we get play in it. so if you aren’t a blogger and you can get away, we highly advise finding yourself in following situation. oh, and while you’re out there, feel free to send us a thank you email at ts@tomorrowstarted.com.

“this is the fireside resort in wilson, wyoming just outside jackson hole and grand teton national park. convenient central location 10 minutes from the slopes at jackson hole mountain resort, less than 15 minutes from jackson and about an hour from yellowstone. super-mod cabins are a contemporary take on the area’s historic homesteader cottages. situated on eight wildlife-filled acres where moose, elk, red-tailed hawks, bald eagles and deer roam and nest, you’d never know fireside resort was a mere seven miles from jackson’s bustling town square. just south of grand teton national park with views of the grand teton mountain range from the property, fireside resort offers the intimacy of a boutique hotel, the atmosphere of a wooded campground and the ambience of a cozy vacation home.
walk into your personal one-bedroom cabin, designed in a modern rustic style, and any ideas of cowboy kitsch disappear. constructed from recycled wyoming snow fence, the sleek structures have gas fireplaces, plush chocolate leather couches and bright contemporary art, all softened by the gnarled exposed wood beams overhead. each comes with a furnished deck, a full kitchen, and a tempurpedic pullout couch (in addition to the comfy king-sized bed in the bedroom). HD flat-screen tvs and rain showers add to the contempo-cozy charm.
there is no restaurant or even a central building; most guests cook in their kitchens or eat in nearby restaurants. but the staff can guide you to the top local pros-in-the-know who will assist you in biking, rafting and fly fishing trips in the summer, or skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. the fireside resort experience is simple: it’s a comfortable, tucked-away haven to relax, rejuvenate and set up headquarters for all your jackson adventures. and while it might be tempting to hole up by the fire in your homey pied-à-terre, yellowstone national park, jackson’s saloon-filled downtown and the world-renowned jackson hole mountain resort are all an easy drive away.” – sam storms for jetsetter.comby ad

Last Thursday: Adrian Brody, Greenwich Hotel Shibui Spa, Robert Deniro, Owen Wilson, Win Wenders, Pina Bausch, Woody Allen, and salvador dali

every thursday should be like last thursday. after a full on month back from the holidays, i finally took a day off to rejuvenate. i slept till 11 am (i usually do, but still), picked up my date, and went for a coffee at la colombe.  then, we walked to the greenwich hotel, which is partly owned by robert deniro. the lobby is not impressive and the neither is the hotel really; but, if you want a private, quiet and out-of-the way place in the heart of NYC then this is probably it. downstairs at the hotel is the greenwich hotel spa and indoor pool. we had a hinoki bath for 2 containing a blend of hinoki cypress, cedar, mint, sage, and minerals, in a full on japanese “imported” room with low ceilings and tatami mat. we were catered to by a true japanese masseuse with little english ability (refreshing). while in our hinoki soaked bath, we were handed amazing drinks containing mint, ginger, and lemon which were so amazing i wanted to take them home (approx $95). after turning in to mush, i headed to my massage.  a “drunken lotus” ritual as they call it (approx $200-280). by the end i was floating and could barely feel my legs. regardless, i dragged myself to BAM in brooklyn, one of the last places in NY to be showing “pina” the 3d film by win wenders on pina bausch. i was unsold on the 3d, and found it to be sensationalist and a total waste of material; but, after seeing it i was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. regardless, i still think its quite unnecessary generally speaking. on the other hand, the film was out of this world. the sequences filmed on everyday streets and outdoor spaces were truly magical, as you never see dance in such a setting (films preview). a beautiful homage and a must see film ideally in a theater. so what’s next? japanese food of course, to keep the SPA experience alive. i had a fabulous grilled salmon with skin, and plenty of sake. i finished the early night with woody allen’s “midnight in paris”. another great film i had missed. this one was unfortunately off screen but it was the best woody allen film since he stopped being in his films. i loved it. owen wilson is a natural woody embodiment without cheap imitation. sometimes, when i see a good film, i wish i could erase my memory and watch all my favorite films again. thursday was the closest i could get to that. we had some wine and finished the day early in bed and i slept like a log. it was a day i would recommend to just about any friend or foe. by uh

the quiet paradise: 50-acres of private estate owned by an italian duchess’ welcomes you as one of the small luxury hotels of the world

each bath room is fitted with a private plunge pool, outside the oversized sqaure window (to the left) overseeing the tree tops

an amazing spa at the hotel uses ancient mayan herbs grown on premise to create every product used not to mention the herbal tea served at the spa.

home away from home: magical ivory boxes and old furniture fill the room for a visual feast

at 2pm complimentary tea and fresh made cookies are served

the best food on earth. mexico has become my culinary indulgence. amazing locally grown vegetables and habanero spiced ceviche are to die for

i’m still dreaming of going back to the esencia, a private small seaside property with only 29 rooms, that is like a second home, fully staffed with spa and immaculate service. located in the premium white sandy-beach of xpu-ha, the estate is lusciously manicured with quiet gardens and flowers. this was my second visit to this small hotel in 2 years, and although i think of it as, lets say,  quite indulgent, i believe its justified as i truly appreciated every detail in this place. from the well disguised leaf-wrapped electrical wires to the discrete and invisible service. from the tile works to the quiet and isolated sparse rooms, from the objects scattered about to the amazing food that is made-to-order. this was no luxury hotel, but a private experience for 2. supporting the local efforts we solely drank mexican wine and although there is room for growth i was amazed at how refined this unknown region of wine was to my taste. i love the people in mexico and the history of this amazing region. my head is bowed. i found time to indulge in drawing local birds, and reading about the mayans and the aztecs in between spa treatments and drinks by the pool. i pondered my luck, and was grateful that i could even be here and afford such luxury that must bring a level of guilt to my social beliefs. i thought to myself, everyone should have a chance at this… but then again not everyone may appreciate this? my equals would have indulged in a car or an object, but seldom on an experience. so perhaps this place is best left untouched and empty. for what i received from this place, it was indeed a bargain of a lifetime. room rates range between $700 and $2,000. small luxury hotels of the world. by uh

l’hotel particulier: the quite paris i love

just back from paris and really enjoyed my stay at this little hotel which was originally owned by the hermes family. l’hotel particulier montmartre is a secluded and peaceful little hotel in montmartre designed by morgane rousseau, just off the beautiful rue junot. it feels more like a country house than a hotel, the amenities are minimal, no restaurant, minibar, etc. (at least at the time I stayed, but we are told there is now), but if you are used to living in the city, it’s great to be able to come home at the end of the day and have cocktails in its quiet garden. they also serve a lovely breakfast. the hotel is accessed via a passageway off of rue junot, just a couple doors down from a house adolph loos built for tristan tzara, and if i’m not mistaken there is a robert mallet stevens house on the same street. a five minute walk up the street leads you to tourist crazy sacre coeur, but the area around the hotel is quiet and residential and the streets are lined with beautiful homes. highly recommended. by kc
