le corbusier – his true colors

amazing article by alice rawsthorn in the new york times about le corbusier’s wall colors, must read here, a couple of lines for lazies:

“by 1931, le corbusier had settled on a palette of soft pastels and brights to accentuate white, and arranged for them to be reproduced on wallpaper swatches by the swiss manufacturer salubra. esver the control freak, he specified exactly ho salubra should group the colors together to indicate which ones could be combined.”
“a book of all of the swatches made for corbusier by salubra from 1931 to 1959 was published by birkhäuser in 1997. a young chemist, katrin trautwein, the co-founder of kt color, then started to explore the possibility of manufacturing the paints and secured a license to do so from the fondation le corbusier.”

hastens of sweden: Need a new bed?

marlon agrees

was looking for damn bed, a place to crash that is, no particular reason other than that my over indulgent sister was at my place when i was away, and she told me that my mattress is more of torture chamber than a bed. so i figured might as well get a nice one. i came across this hastens bed (store in soho), can you believe this, the queen beds (mattress only) starts at $7,500 and goes up to $70,000!! no swedes included. that said one night sleep in it and you are in heaven. each bed comes with approximately 7 horses worth of horse hair. i guess that keeps it breathable and maybe even sexy if you happen to be steven klein. for me its simply dreamy. now if you happen to be gorgeous you are welcome to come over an try it. we can give the godfather clip a whole new meaning! by uh

lady gaga: once again fighting for the good of all mankind

thanx terry, but no thanx lady gaga. doubt if anyone who’s actually reading this blog will disagree with your “so controversial” message but will you please shut up and stick to your deeply progressive pop lyrics?  you know, like that line “baby is a bad boy with some retro sneakers”…which made such an impression on the youth movement of today.  we’re a little sick of every two bit celebrity taking up “a cause” to blatantly further their career.

first off the bigots in washington who are creating such absurd laws don’t exactly listen to your albums, let alone your advice.  secondly, half the members of the senate who voted in the law are probably closet-case-queens pandering to their redneck voters. they are doing exactly what you’re doing. in other words, doing whatever it takes to further their career. if you guys actually have a brain to think and care for something, how is it that all the concerns are around such agreeable issues within your audiences? that’s because your PR handlers tell you what causes to take on. god forbid any of you stand-up for something you care about that happens not to be popular within your “customer” base, like zero population growth, G8, indigenous people of (insert country here)… i guess those guys don’t buy concert tickets, or do they? by xy
