AIR, the unyielding and tremendous french duo have created an ode to the the georges méliès classic film, “le voyage dans la lune.” after years of work and rekindling, the fully restored and colorized 15-minute film will be shown along with “the extraordinary voyage,” a fascinating one-hour documentary about the restoration of the film with the AIR album as its soundtrack. i was fortunate enough to see this wonder at lincoln center this week. it is terribly sad to think that méliès created such brilliance in a short time and then saw it all crumble before his eyes; however, his presence shall forever be lucid in the eyes of cinema. by sv

T. S. Eliot – Gerontion by poetictouch
an audio of thomas stearns eliot reading his 1920 piece gerontion. the poem represents the view of a gerontic or elderly man and his Modernist views on religion and sexuality, amongst other topics. although the line, “thoughts of a dry brain in a dry season” is a metaphor for age, I thought it would be rather fitting for this peculiar new york weather we’ve been having. plus, I cannot think of a more satisfying way to hear eliot read than by the genius himself.

was not a fan of irreversible, i found it obnoxious and sensationalist. however, i just met nathan brown, the lead actor in the film, and now i have to give this a shot. the trailer seems worthy of a chance but knowing gaspar, there will be surprises indeed… by uh
