ecofont, a must save

ecofont the prints we make for our ‘daily use’ not only use paper, but also ink. according to SPRANQ creative communications (utrecht, the netherlands) your ink cartridges (or toner) could last longer. SPRANQ has therefore developed a new font: the ecofont. “after dutch holey cheese, there now is a dutch font with holes as well.” appealing ideas are often simple: how much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability? after extensive testing with all kinds of shapes, the best results were achieved using small circles. after lots of late hours (and coffee) this resulted in a font that uses up to 20% less ink. free to download, free to use. to download here by pp’

more black and blue than purple: Olivier Zahm

such a ladies man you are… grrrr!

and your poor girlfriend…

and by the way who posts a picture of themselves like this on their blog?

there is something about french cheese i learned when i lived in paris… just cause it stinks it doesn’t mean it’s good. as much as olivier aspires to be like serge, zahm is more in line with the late belmondo and aged delon than anywhere near gainsbourg. but one can always keep trying. as terry advised me once, “rock out with your cock out”. now just for the record, we have nothing against purple the magazine, we do like it, we have the very first issues when it was in a smaller format and not plastered with nudies.  in terms of publication we even like the more recent ones, but some things have to be said about a man in a position of power who uses it shamelessly… which by the way brings to mind, that short italian prime minister, is that berlusconi? by dd

how to iron your own shirt: japanese style from garra

i have always ironed my own shirts. i find it to be better than yoga, its meditative and very rewarding. i like to think no place irons my shirts as well as i do. its an art and there’s always more to learn. here’s a video on garra, with a super stripped-down streamlined iron and flat japan style iron table. go to http://www.garra.jp click on “ironing skills” on the left hand list at the bottom. unfortunately the rest of the site is not so great. enjoy! by dd

“made like a gun, goes like a bullet”

my first decent couple of bucks is going to be directly invested in a royal enfield! i’m dreaming of it at night since my father told me once that the motorbike that “O’rence” is riding in lawrence of arabia is this very one.

i love everything about this brand from their history, to their logo, to the look to the end of the story… and what they still produce is still the same than it used to be non-like mini, fiat 500 and so on!

royal enfield was the brand of the enfield cycle company, a british engineering company. notable for producing motorcycles, it also produced bicycles, lawnmowers, stationary engines, and even rifle parts for the royal small arms factory in enfield lock. this legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo, a cannon, and their motto “made like a gun, goes like a bullet”. it also enabled the use of the brand name royal enfield from 1890. in 1955 enfield of india started assembling bullet motorcycles under licence from UK components, and by 1962 were manufacturing complete bikes. the original Redditch, worcestershire based company dissolved in 1971, but enfield of India, based in chennai, continued, and bought the rights to use the royal enfield name in 1995. royal enfield production continues, and now royal enfield is the oldest motorcycle company in the world still in production and bullet is the longest production run model.[1] by pp’
