still missing

amongst other offices in the world trade center was the office of cantor fitzgerald’s firm. the owner was the biggest collector of sculpture by august rodin in the world. almost the entire collection got destroyed in the attacks but the strange thing is that one of the sculptor’s most famous work, the “thinker,” survived the destruction and disappeared. it seems it got stolen in the wreckage…photographer henri leutwyler shot this piece found in the fragments, it’s nice.

article about the missing collection which also included picassos, hockneys and warhols here. by pp.

walton ford – king kong

“i don’t like to look at him, jack. it makes me think of that awful day on the island.”

for those who haven’t seen it yet, the above sentence is the enigmatic title of this walton ford show at paul kasmin (until x-mas). it’s about king kong’s feelings and it’s grand. those watercolors are the size of a street advertisement, gigantic! and yes you read well, this is watercolor, and yes it’s on paper. by pp.

amazing show: maurizio cattelan at the guggenheim

the maurizio cattelan show at the guggenheim is a must see. its fantastical, whimsical and  imaginative to say the least; not to mention its unconventional display that can only have been done at the guggenheim. this was despite all the nay-sayers who criticize the museum for its less than ideal space for art work. case and point. lucky for us kl used her VIP access and got us in without the wait, and for free. you can’t go wrong there. by dd
