seydisfjordur rocks iceland: soundville and sigur ros
well, it’s about time brands thought outside of the usual venues. in this case, sound serves as the centerpiece in the latest release from sony, soundville. it is a short film that documents three days in the life of the icelandic town of seydisfjordur after it’s been transformed into a giant soundsystem. the project brought in a surprising range of collaborators—from seydisfjordur’s townspeople themselves, to sigur ros’ concert team and musician fede cabral.
how did you come up with this particular idea? what inspired you?
i was buying milk while listening to stockhausen on my headphones. i felt everyone should be listening too.
it’s really, really, amazing, and makes me want to be in iceland now. by dd + kt
Jaco Van Dormael: toto le héros
i saw this film by the belgian director/screenwriter jaco van dormael i think over 10 years ago, and i remember i cried in the theater. maybe it was because i saw it only months after my father passed away. not that it was a sad film, on the contrary it’s very fun, but there was something painfully honest about it. i really loved it then, and i’m so curious to see it again. unfortunately unavailable on netflix, making it a good find and a nice gift. by uh
charlotte gainsbourg: willem dafoe: lars von trier: antichrist
“lars von trier’s ‘antichrist’ screened this year at the cannes film festival. the ‘antichrist’, written by danish film director lars von trier, is an intense drama about evil, power and love between two people, featuring charlotte gainsbourg and willem dafoe.” tickets available at the 47th NYFF09.
add it to your list. a film about about a couple who retreat to their woodland cabin to heal after the death of their child. way out into the wilderness: apparently not for the meek, in one reviewer’s words: “I thought I had my head down a lavatory, frankly,” said baz bamigboye of britain’s daily mail, the journalist who asked von trier to justify his film. by dd
muhammad ali: heroes are hard to find
but this butterfly deserves a post… man of principles, champ, gentleman, and when necessary draft dodger. and what a great choice of track. mind you bruce lee based his fancy foot works on none but ali himself. by xy

Mission one electric motorcyle achieves world record
the mission one electric bike, designed by our good friends at fuse project, has achieved a world record of 150.059 miles/hour at the bonneville speedway salt flats. now of course the big question regarding the world record is: how many electric bikes are out there to begin with?
the mission one is admittedly of the best looking bikes in the crotch rocket category, which is a hard one to pull off (see our post on another category: the elsinore and yet another category the royal enfield) but given its electric powerhouse, it is the most green of them all. the mission one bike can be reserved prior to launch for as little as $68,995 (tires are included). well done mr. yves behar, may the force remain with you. by dd
