social distortion: short film premiere
so cal rock and roll veterans social distortion recently released a music video for the song “machine gun blues” from their new album “hard times and nursery rhymes“. this isn’t just a music video, it is a short film based on a fictional bank robbery in la circa 1934. i think it’s great to see such a core band putting themselves out there by making more than just your ordinary watch-the-band-play music video. it’s a nice production that tells a story. by jr

jammin’ with sam the sham
a little egyptian touch from sam the sham and the pharaohs. the lyrics were so hard to understand that some radio stations banned the song. that’s the attitude, if you don’t understand something, ban it… just in case! by bn
RIP freddie mercury: living on my own
saw a documentary on him the other night, and i was thinking how funny that as a young boy, it never occurred to me that freddie mercury was gay. i mean the band’s name, his elaborate outfits, etc. were all obvious cues… the fans, as with most rock bands, were quite manly and it’s funny to imagine the dilemmas he had to go through in his performances. in any case, he was a genius and as cheesy as this pop song may sound i have to say when i heard it and saw the video (for the first time last night) i kinda liked it. there is something terribly sad and beautiful about freddie mercury. by dd

miss broadway: glass candy does belle epoque
ok it’s disco week at tomorrow started…. here’s another one from the same era but remade by glass candy. funny enough, this song was originally written by a french band during the disco era that scored just a few hits before fading into history. the lyrics are funny especially the intro, when done with a french accent. by dd
yes sir, very YSL – baccara disco boogie
funny enough, chances are they were wearing original YSL suits, and they were simply regurgitated by mister stefano pilati. cute. by dd
