how beautiful: to all the killer whales…
I’m a fountain of blood, In the shape of a girl,
You’re the bird on the brim, Hypnotised by the Whirl.
Drink me, make me feel real, Wet your beak in the stream,
Game we’re playing is life, Love is a two way dream.
Leave me now, return tonight, Tide will show you the way,
If you forget my name, You will go astray Like a killer whale Trapped in a bay.
I’m a path of cinders Burning under your feet,
You’re the one who walks me I’m your one way street.
I’m a whisper in water, Secret for you to hear,
You are the one who grows distant, When I beckon you near.
I’m a tree that grows hearts, One for each that you take,
You’re the intruder hand, I’m the branch that you break.

stiletto: Behati Prinsloo photographed by karen collins
one of my favorite recent shoots by photographer karen collins for french publication stiletto. its almost too good for stiletto if you ask me. the beautiful light and a tangible femininity which was present in her earlier work seems to be seeping its way back into the this period. very happy to see that. model behati prinsloo, stylist wayne gross… the september issue. by xy
godzooks: Le Relais De Venise L’Entrecote opens in new york city
now there is no other reason to visit paris, or geneva for that matter. well at least just one less reason. its not ‘cafe de paris’ but a damn good one indeed. we just found out (aparently a month later) that le relais de venise l’entrecote has opened its doors to new york city (590 Lexington Ave, +1 212 758-3989). the entrecotes special sauce, that is a closely guarded secret, is reportedly heavy on the butter, and incorporates blanched chicken livers, mustard, and thyme and its to die for.
while in paris long lines are guaranteed (along with classic bad service), i am not sure you will see the same thing happening in the newly opened new york branch. certainly if the restaurant was situated in soho or the lame and crowded meatpacking district it might garner that type of reaction, but in midtown? located on a rather non-descript block amongst hotels and office buildings? and what a superbly perfect location that is indeed. lets hope it doesn’t get too much attention. now we can go and avoid the whole crowd. just know there is no choice. you just order how you want your meat done: “blue, rare, medium or well”. vegetarians are forever forbidden. don’t forget the profiteroles for desert. yuuuuuum! by dd
an aphrodisiac
after reading that this eau de parfum by killan has been created to be an olfactive aphrodisiac, using the narcotic lure of tobacco I am extremely curious to smell this . never did I imagine the smell of tobacco as an aphrodisiac…this surely has to be tested immediately. the back to black can be purchased at aedes de venustas for a mere $225. by kv
bill haley: i’m gonna rip it up
new york fashion week ain’t over and the midnight dance session at the jane is still hovering over my head, but then i saw this and laughed big time. we must look like retards on the dance floor next to these guys. so lame, so tame, so goody-two-jane compared to our grandparents. see if you can spot grandma flipping over the boy that could have been your grandpa… somebody teach me something ; 0 by dd
H.E. Boucher: live steam-engine boat replica model
talking about shackleton and all… how beautiful is this? i want this as bad as i wanted that kiki de montparnas harness. the 36″ model boat is made by h.e. boucher, inc., madison avenue, new york, circa 1920. the manufacturing label is on the stern and also on the boiler. the boat is constructed out of wood, and has a live steam engine complete with original pressure pump. it also has a screw down rudder to set the course. ships ahoy. by dd

Mission one electric motorcyle achieves world record
the mission one electric bike, designed by our good friends at fuse project, has achieved a world record of 150.059 miles/hour at the bonneville speedway salt flats. now of course the big question regarding the world record is: how many electric bikes are out there to begin with?
the mission one is admittedly of the best looking bikes in the crotch rocket category, which is a hard one to pull off (see our post on another category: the elsinore and yet another category the royal enfield) but given its electric powerhouse, it is the most green of them all. the mission one bike can be reserved prior to launch for as little as $68,995 (tires are included). well done mr. yves behar, may the force remain with you. by dd
