this clip has only been seen by 12 million people, and i wasn’t one of them until now, but i love it.  i wish i was there, up there, if not then under the sea… canadian astronaut, chris hadfield, was up there and he has been tweeting everything from how to make a sandwich in space to pictures of earth from strait of dover to london-town. this is his farewell piece on his way back to earth, a cover of bowie’s space oddity in zero g. i wonder what i would have done if i was up there… probably a version of planet claire with pp! by dd

Serge Gainsbourg doing Jane Birkin

“shit serge, this cheap ass helmet sucks, can’t you do another shitty song with bardot moaning and buy me a decent helmet like hilary rhoda? i’m sick of your bohemian artist life. i’m seriously considering dumping your ass for eric or that other chap john barry.” by dd + ars

starshift featuring hilary rhoda: piloted by captain santiago and mauricio

daft punk never looked this good. sorry hedi.

the power is in your hands in starshift, a film by our friends the dynamic duo santiago and mauricio. inspired by 8-bit video games and their dad’s all time favorite film, kubrick’s 2001: a space odyssey, the siblings created the interchangeable shorts featuring a helmeted hilary rhoda in four striking looks. her custom made, high-tech headpieces were added in post-production. “we wanted to explore beauty through a playful lens by creating conceptual helmets that would encase facial creations,” says santiago. “they’re a metaphor that makeup can be a shield to combat everyday life with.” and hell, do i need a shield to fend off everyday life… by uh

domplatz

this is my favorite period of richter, the blurred photo paintings and portraits, but this is not one of my favorites in the batch and thank god. this one sold on tuesday for 37 million, that’s ten times the price it sold for just 15 years ago at 3.5. don bryant, founder of napa valley’s bryant family vineyard is the new happy owner. i’m sure he really gets ‘art’ just like his wines. pay him a visit. by dd

1965 Ford GT40: 1 of 5 Rare Works Prototype Roadsters

this 1965 ford GT works prototype roadster did not sell at high bid of €2.100.000 versus pre-sale estimate of €2.400.000 – €2.900.000. but its highly collectible if you can bid closer in. chassis number GT/111 is one of only 5 prototype open GT roadsters built by ford advanced vehicle operations in the UK during early 1965, of which just 4 survive; competed at le mans trials and targa florio in period; its whereabouts remained largely unknown for forty years until chassis was rediscovered in 2006; following a restoration GT/111 reappeared at the 2007 goodwood revival. by dd
