david lynch’s mulholland drive movie poster

the glasses adam kesher a.k.a actor justin theroux wore

passed by moscot on delancey few days ago and i saw those weird extra bold glasses in the window. i was really surprised (in a good way) when they told me they were the glasses adam kesher a.k.a actor justin theroux wore in david lynch’s mulholland drive. it’s based on a vintage french frame that they remade for the movie and decided to issued some for fun. so of course it’s not the obvious pair of trendy glasses but at the same time it’s not the easiest choice either. and that’s what i like about it. that being said the 300 made, are not sold out yet (and the movie was not released yesterday…) by pp

scorcese 10 favorites movie posters

i’m not very proud of my source here but a certain magazine is featuring the 10 favorite movie posters of martin scorcese as well as an interview of the man to go with the release of a coffee table book celebrating hollywood’s vintage movie posters.
here is an extract “For me, and anyone who grew up before a certain time—sometime in the 1980s I’d say—posters were a key part of the moviegoing experience. You’d walk through the lobby, and you’d look at the poster, usually accompanied by lobby cards and often by stills and promotional language, of the film you were about to see, and the one that was coming next. You’d hold and absorb the image in your mind’s eye. Part of the excitement then was in watching the actual film and comparing it with the possible or likely film you’d conjured up during the few seconds you’d looked at the poster.” the rest is here and the book is here. by pp

4 interviews

it’s basically another fashion thing but of the interesting kind. it was posted on style.com over the past few weeks and it’s about the future of fashion, naysayers will say that fashion deserve to die, ok we got it…
whatever, asking about it’s future to 4 insiders on a commercial, photographic or trends point of view seems relevant.
there is 4 interviews including, robert duffy, olivier zahm, hedi slimane and cathy horyn. and it worth having a look, some interesting things are said. by pp’

Citroen SM

why are cars so ugly today? it seems there are no designers left with a sense of proportion. or is it that the practicalities of life have taken precedent over a sense of vision. extra head room, extra truck space and super size seats to accomodate the worlds ‘growing’ population. well, happy birthday citroen SM, it just turned 40. by fe

jarvis cocker: waxes ideology

i don’t know, but i somehow loved this guy. in a funny way i feel like i always knew who he was. even before knowing him. in my opinion camille had this amazing being, and she really fucked it up. if i was a girl jarvis would be my dream. by ay

balenciaga blacklists french vogue

hilarious fashion gossip of the moment is that french vogue was recently ‘blacklisted’ from attending the balenciaga show in paris this week for three possible reasons: 1) carine roitfeld was naughtier than we ever imagined, and loaned a requested balenciaga sample to maxmara (a brand she consults for), 2) because balenciaga designer nicolas ghèsquiere was unimpressed by the firing of bestie marie amelie sauvé, or 3) because carine refused to remove unflattering photos of ghèsquiere from facebook. some people never really graduate from highschool i suppose. by kl

margiela without the man

for being the first season without martin margiela doing the designing himself, the fall 2010 collection was still very much in his spirit. the crazy fur “cages” seem like a direct evolution of previous seasons hair coats. (i seem to recall seeing something very similar at the fever ray concert last fall…) and the quirky dimensions continue – this time the house redefined the waist. so unexpected and surprisingly chic. by kv

Free dive: swimming like a real mammal

the cove a film by jim clark

captive dolphins on z or x perma-grin at play

i finally saw the cove last night, a great sad film. it just goes to show how horrible we are in general. but to be fair to the “evil” fishermen of taijii, i failed to see why the massacre of dolphins is any worse a crime then say tuna? or whales? or wild sturgeon? or sharks? wild horses? wolves? even people or is that called collateral damage? i guess humans are so terrible, one can’t figure where to begin, and dolphins are just as good as any. how sad that even at the end, the few species we (kinda) care about are those that “we” find “cute or amusing”, like little dogs, smiling dolphins, and fuzzy pandas. we are so pathetically self centered “we” make me look like a saint.

anyhow, on a more positive note, aside from making an immediate donation to paul watson – the sea shepherds, whom i had supported in the past and i am a member of, i fell in love with the idea of “free diving”. i’ve been on the case all day. i should say that i have scuba-dived in rangiroa, snorkeled in bora bora, and (not to mention) walked the brooklyn bridge. but this is another world. no tank, no oxygen just the ability to hold your breath and manage your output. just like the other mammals in the sea. it must be like gliding vs. flying. can’t wait to try it… not to mention i want one of those mono fins today! i guess that’s not going pure, but hell, they look amazing… here is another free dive clip worth seeing. by dd

15 FEET OF PURE WHITE SNOW

what could possibly make nick cave and the bad seeds any cooler? jarvis cocker, that’s who… released in 2001 this vid still kicks brooklyn ars. and for the youngsters, lets point out where the reference video for “pass this on” (the knife-2003) came from. by dd
