the “function of form” written by farshid moussavi and edited by ahmad reza schricker published by actar and the harvard university gradute school of design

space design by schricker for nike, in collaboration with new york agency ceft and company

below: additional studies by the young architect

a young masters graduate of harvard university and a current member of Jacques Herzog & Pierre de Meuron‘s offices (china: birds nest) in switzerland, ahmad reza schricker’s future in architecture looks rather promising. the book “function of form” published and bearing his name coincided with his departure from the US and is a great find for archi-aficianados and MIT brains alike. we’ll be looking forward to seeing more of his work. by dd

yves klein exception

if you asked me to participate in a performance like the one above for any artist today the answer would surely be ‘no thanks’, i’m not a gritty exhibitionist. but i don’t know if i could resist the particular cool of manicured women in their perfect chinions, dragging each other through paint while ray-ban fitted cellos play. a true art tipping point between establishment and experiment.
soooo yves. a couple gorgeous exhibition invitations

“if the mone is belewe, we must believe that it is true”

our new year, new decade, new era, was started on the note of natural anomaly that some interpret as relating to absurdities and impossibilities. are we finally entering ‘the future’? i hope so.

a blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly pattern. most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year. the extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years (7 times in the 19-year metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon, called a “blue moon.”

the earliest recorded english usage of the term “blue moon” was in a 1528 pamphlet violently attacking the english clergy, entitled “Rede Me and Be Not Wrothe” (read me and be not angry): “Yf they say the mone is belewe / We must believe that it is true” (if they say the moon is blue, we must believe that it is true). by kl

the ricoh r-10: digital camera

below: the GX200 model with the über cool add on LC-1 auto lens cap, a must!

at first glance, the ricoh r-10/gx200 digital camera appears to be rather serious. its wide angle 28mm lens and minimal styling points to great possibilities. i tried the gx200 over a dinner and was rather amazed at the quality in low light and its tactile feel. i was about ready to purchase one, however i have read terrible reviews about the mechanism and the noise at high ISO levels in the r10. the issue are to be confirmed and if they apply to the gx in actual review of the camera and will re-appear in fuller description at a later date. hold off for now, and if you already have one love to hear. by xy
