for george

this short film by fellini is a masterpiece for me, with actor terence stamp, ray charles on the sound track and a spirit that is more punk than the pistols themselves. this particular scene simply never left me! you have to understand what she says to appreciate the gravity of the scene. find an italian immediately. the other two shorts by vadim and malle in the spirit of the dead (3 tales by edgar allan poe) are to be discarded. read more about it in this article by george porcari. by dd

I’m a victim of this song

i’m a bit over it, but i loved it when i first heard it. if you have never heard this cover,be patient at least until you get to 3:15: …that’s when things get interesting. performed by swiss born nutcase/celebrated artist pipilotti rist with many thanx to our pp for his enlightenment. by dd

song of the day

i’ve been listening to planet caravan by black sabbath actually, but couldn’t find a live performance to show. instead, here is another amazing song perfect for today… ‘babe i’m gonna leave you’ by led zeppelin. by kl

Egill Sæbjörnsson

egill saebjornsson

i was introduced to egill sæbjörnsson on a trip to reykjavik iceland where I got a cd performance of this artist (who also sometimes sings), from bad taste records (Smekkleysa) the owner Einar Örn Benediktsson (of the sugarcubes)  the album was titled “tonk of the town.”  great set of tracks if you can find a copy.  egill plays all instruments and sings on the album, the low-tech production work is key, and the content is rather whimsical and easy.  it is a breath of fresh air in the world of the ‘too cool for school’ art industry. the lyrics are literally grabbed from the air, words he heard at a bar, lyrics to a song he thought was thin lizzy but later found out otherwise… this piece posted here, is more of a performance piece than a song, so don’t mix the two mediums. i simply cant find anything on him, but felt he deserved a spot on tomorrow started, so don’t just take my word for it, look it up for yourself: egill sæbjörnsson “tonk of the town”. by dd

Audio video mobile architecture

redesigning your stogy office? that penthouse apt you just bought at half the price? well the idea in trak-kit can change the entire way we interact with technology. the possibilities seem rather endless when you consider how this can apply not only to television screens and computer screens which have dominated our offices and homes, but how walls and elements can become modular and movable. trak-kit could have only been the brain child of a new york city architect who is aware of the limited spaces we have, and an aesthetic from a city that sets the standard for the rest of the world. the exclusivity and the price tags may contain trak-kit to the uber lux apartments, high-end hotels, state of the art tele conference rooms, and designer corporate offices for now, but with time and its expansion it will surely become available for everyone. architecture and rendering by shadi and company. by av

teorema

for me, it’s pier paolo pasolini’s finest film. the infamous salo was neither shocking or memorable, unless you saw it at the time, in which case it was banned. certainly reactionary and specific to the period, but rather boring now. teorema on the other hand, is a film that seems to live on. it’s beautifully filmed and you can’t really lose with terence stamp in the mix. must see. by dd

ok one last one, common people:

another genius set of words by jarvis cocker that are actually based on another encounter… see, pop isn’t always that bad! now this set may apply to our beloved camille! here you go:

She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge,
she studied sculpture at Saint Martin’s College, that’s where I, caught her eye.
She told me that her Dad was loaded,
I said “In that case I’ll have a rum and coca-cola.”
She said “Fine.” and in thirty seconds time she said,

“I want to live like common people,
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people,
I want to sleep with common people, like you.”

Well what else could I do –
I said “I’ll see what I can do.”
I took her to a supermarket,
I don’t know why but I had to start it somewhere,
so it started there. I said pretend you’ve got no money,
she just laughed and said,
“Oh you’re so funny.” I said “yeah?
Well I can’t see anyone else smiling in here.
Are you sure? you want to live like common people,
you want to see whatever common people see,
you want to sleep with common people,
you want to sleep with common people, like me.”
But she didn’t… understand,
she just smiled and held my hand.
Rent a flat above a shop,
cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool,
pretend you never went to school.
But still you’ll never get it right,
cos when you’re laid in bed at night,
watching roaches climb the wall,
if you call your Dad he could stop it all…

You’ll never live like common people,
you’ll never do what common people do,
you’ll never fail like common people,
you’ll never watch your life slide out of view,
and dance and drink and screw,
because there’s nothing else to do.

Sing along with the common people,
sing along and it might just get you through,
laugh along with the common people,
laugh along even though they’re laughing at you,
and the stupid things that you do… by dd

play with fire

might as well throw this one in too. it’s actually an absurd video for this song! completely ridiculous… the record managers must have taken over on this. by dd

one of my favorite lyrics: razzmatazz Jarvis Cocker

yeah sure it’s a bit mean, but not unlike the rolling stones “play with fire” it works somehow. especially if you’ve been in such a relationship, ever.  i envision the recipient of such lyrics to be a lohan type! here you go:

The trouble with your brother, he’s always sleeping with your mother
And I know that your sister missed her time again this month
Am I talking too fast or are you just playing dumb?
If you want I can write it down
It should matter to you but aren’t you the one with your razzmatazz
and the nights on the town?
Oh you knew it and you blew it didn’t you babe?
I was lying when I asked you to stay now no-one’s gonna care
If you don’t call them when you said
And he’s not coming round tonight to try and talk you into bed
And all those stupid little things they ain’t working
No they aren’t working anymore
You started getting fatter three weeks after I left you
Now you’re going with some kid looks like some bad comedian
Are you gonna go out, are you sitting at home eating boxes of Milk Tray?
Watch TV on your own, aren’t you the one with your razzmatazz
and your nights on the town?
And your father wants to help you doesn’t he babe?
But your mother wants to put you away
Now no-one’s gonna care if you don’t call them when you said
And he’s not coming round tonight to try and talk you into bed
And all those stupid little things they ain’t working
Oh they aren’t working anymore
Oh well I saw you at the doctor’s waiting for a test
You tried to look like some kind of heiress but your face is such a mess
And now you’re going to a party and you’re leaving on your own
Oh I’m sorry but didn’t you say that things go better with a little bit of razzamatazz? by dd
