talking about music greats… saw a nice docu film on fela titles “fela kuti: music is the weapon” loved this one song which i did not have. it was released on felas own kalakuta label originally as no other label would touch it at the time. finally 20 years later, MCA released it in the year 2000. i just ordered the cd! here’s the clip from the docu and the song authority stealing. by dd

how did i get from the halston fashion show to don quixote… allow me to explain. i arrived at the halston show at the barbara gladstone gallery promptly at 7:30 as noted on my calendar, only to realize that the show was at 6:30 to 7:30 and not at 7:30. oh well, it wasn’t the first time… and besides, i don’t generally frequent the same locations as the horse lady… i’m sure i’ll see the lovely hard work tomorrow.
given i didn’t have tickets to marc, i headed to the chelsea hotel bar next door, the don quixote… while we hung out there for a few glasses of wine and appetizers, i found myself lost in the many irritable versions of don quixote statuettes that lined the walls and every available surface. from porcelain figurines to marble busts, this restaurant bar must have been frozen in time since the 70’s.
once home, i had to buy the book and re-read the masterpiece that both wells and terry gilliam failed to tackle. in my search, i came across these bits and pieces… they don’t come close to my admiration for a single white, scrawny, stick figure statue of a man i saw at the door tonight, but perhaps they’ll do the trick for you… happy reading. by uh
let us continue with the fashion short movies. in the past, we have posted vanessa bruno’s shorts, and the new one is just as beautiful. pure pleasure. we were talking about ryan mcginley a few posts earlier, but to me those shorts are the best cross over fashion/movies.

we all know film/video/experimental moments are the evolution of print ads. with all of the experimentation on how to express a brand aura beyond the printed page, a lot of messiness has resulted. here we see NARS branching into time and space with simplicity and elegance. by kl
imagine you go to your blog one day, and it’s gone. all gone. can’t access. can’t log in. just taken away by the big brother that google has now become. who do you talk to? there is no one. you have to post a complaint and wait. at least nighcruiser came to our rescue, and restored it within 5 days. now that’s rather amazing considering how large blogspot/google is. turns out, we were inaccurately slapped as a spam blog by “bloggers robots”. blogger admits (see image below) that:
“…your blog is probably not a spam blog. automated spam detection is inherently fuzzy (no shit) and we sincerely apologize for this false positive.”
one down. now we still haven’t been able to remove our “content warning tag” which again must have been placed not by the “blogger’s robots” but by the pope himself. this tag is not only annoying and misplaced on such a blog as ours, it has somehow stopped our posts to pop up in google searches. looks like we’ll be moving to a more liberal, like minded, space in the very near future. disappointed at google and blogger but we do thank mister nighcruiser for saving us from a potentially bigger nightmare. by ts-staff
bought the magazine man about town (sorry couldn’t find a website to link to) yesterday after everyone told me about it, and i have to say that is one of the nicest piece of stack printed paper i’ve seen in a long time. it’s beautifully designed by the great french guys at “atelier franck durand” and it is put together by ex-numero philippe utz. only great articles, genius contributors, killer look, daring interviews, nice printing… is that enough?
feel like a bowl of fresh air in the sea of sameness that is the fashion mag business.
even the fashion stories are great, which is really difficult for men. on top of that, cocorico, this numero is about… paris! lovely! dd, let me tell you that you will die for this mag. by pp
